Description
Rescue workers pass a stretcher as others dig through rubble after an explosion ripped the City Hospital annex in McKeesport Pennsylvania, south of Philadelphia, Friday afternoon. Twenty-four persons were injured, two critically. The blast apparently centered in the basement boiler room. Fire broke out after the explosion and was apparently fed for a short time by a ruptured natural gas line.

Photo is dated 1972.
