Samora Moises Machel, center, 41-year-old revolutionary leader who will be officially sworn in as president of Mozambique Wednesday, is wide-eyed and has mouth open as he is greeted by Chinese group which met him at Lourenco Marques airport Monday. Machel wears a guerrilla uniform. The East African territory of Mozambique is slated to become an independent nation Tuesday at midnight after nearly five centuries of Portuguese colonial rule.
