1965 Press Photo Apollo 9 astronauts welcomed home by families, Houston, Texas

The crew of the Apollo 9 returned home to Houston, Texas yesterday and were given a lively reception by their children at Ellington Air Force Base. Astronauts from left to right are Colonel David R. Scott, Colonel James A. McDivitt, and Russell L. Scheickart, a civilian. They flew to Houston from the aircraft carrier Guadalcanal, which picked them out of the ocean after a 10 day orbital flight.
