1960 Press Photo Author Norman Mailer escorted from New York jail cell

Author Norman Mailer, 37, jailed on a charge of stabbing his wife, Adele, 35, during a Sunday morning party, is escorted from a cell at New York's West 100th Street police station early today for a conference with his lawyer. Mailer's first book, "The Naked and the Dead," was a best seller.
