Archbishop Makarios, Greek Cypriot president of Cyprus, is shown at news conference in Athens today at which he declared Turkish intervention on Cyprus would mean war. The bearded president's declaration came after the Turkish government had handed Cyprus an ultimatum, with a copy to Greece, that Turkey would intervene on Cyprus unless fighting stops immediately.
