Archbishop Makarios, center, ousted president of Cyprus,pauses during a press conference in New York Tuesday at which he said he expected to return to his office in the next few weeks. The Archbishop said he was gratified to hear of the resignation of Nikos Sampson, who was installed as president after Makarios was overthrown. Two men in background are unidentified.
