1952 Press Photo Soviet Organizational Bureau Chairman Georgi Malenkov

Sources close to the Soviet Control Commission said 2/22 that Georgi M. Malenkov (above) has succeeded Premier Josef Stalin as Chairman of the Organization Bureau of the Soviet Communist Party. This is second highest post in Communist hierarchy and the sources speculated that Malenkov is now a prime contender for Stalin's job when the Russian Premier dies.
