1953 Press Photo Georgi Malenkov named as Prime Minister to succeed Stalin

Georgi M. Malenkov, chief Soviet exponent of international Communism, today was announced by the Moscow radio as successor to top Russian post held by the late Joseph Stalin. The announcement said that Malenkov has been appointed Chairman (Prime Minister) of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union, the post that Stalin held at the time of his death.
