Senator John J. Marchi, New York City Republican, smiles as he talks to newsmen and supporters at his New York City campaign headquarters early today. Marchi, seeking to be named Republican candidate for mayor, apparently had defeated incumbent Mayor John V. Lindsay in the primary elections when photo was made. Directly left of Marchi is Vito Battista, who sought the comptroller's post.
