Representative James A. McClure, R-ID, had a substantial lead and is the apparent winner of the Republican U.S. State nomination in Idaho's primary election Tuesday. McClure had three opponents in the primary, former Governor Robert E. Smylie, former 2nd District Congressman George Hansen and Kendrick, Idaho, physician-lawyer Glen Wegner.
