1960 Press Photo Madonna adoring infant Christ may be a Da Vinci - now18921

This painting of the Madonna adoring the infant Christ was being studied by British experts following a claim that it may not be work of Verrocchio but instead that of his famous pupil, Leonardo Da Vinci. The painting is on loan at the Royal Academy in London. Dr. Alberto Martini, Italian magazine editor and art critic, made the claim and on Tuesday the Royal Academy announced the picture "may shortly b accepted as being in part by Leonardo Da Vinci."
