1967 Press Photo Beate Leber and attorney Raymond Hayes leave Arizona court

Beate Leber, 34, Heidelberg, Germany, today lost the first round in her Breach of Promise suit against William Henry Brown, of Sasabe, Arizona, Pittsburgh and New York. Judge John C. Brown of Seattle ruled that in the eyes of the court she is still married to aspiring-author Ralph Leber and that her Mexican divorce is illegal. Raymond Hayes, her attorney, says he will appeal the decision.
