1960 Press Photo Regional Secretary of Pan Africanist Congress Philip Kgosane

Philip Kgosane, regional secretary of the militant Pan Africanist Congress, addressed more than 30,000 Africans who marched on a Cape Town police station yesterday to demand release of leaders arrested in roundup of opponents of the South African government's racial policies. Kgosane was hoisted to the shoulders of some of the men at one point and the crowd marched on.
