Description
President Grayson Kirk of Columbia University tells an early morning news conference at the school that he called police because the university has been paralyzed by the illegal acts of a minority of its students, aided and abetted by an unknown number of outsiders." The police moved in force onto the university's campus and routed student demonstrators from five barricaded campus buildings to end a week-long sit-in. At right is David Truman, a Columbia vice president.
