Presidential counselor Melvin R. Laird sports a hard hat presented him Tuesday at the White House by members of the Green Thumb Program from his home state of Wisconsin. Laird was honored for his part in sponsoring legislation for the program while in the House of Representatives. The program gives part-time jobs to senior citizens.
