1971 Press Photo "Last Man Club," members toast before meeting - now16977

Four active members of the "Last Man Club" toast one of their own here Thursday before the champagne bottle only one will drink. The men are part of 66 World War I veterans who contributed a dime each in 1935 for the champagne. They vowed to meet each November 11 until only one was alive. He will drink the wine. The four of 17 known survivors at the meeting are Victor Rigot, 73; Charles Peevler, 79; William Schoneker, 78; and Thurman "Red" Marshall.
