1965 Press Photo Auto graveyard located beside Baltimore-Washington Expressway

This automobile graveyard located beside the Baltimore-Washington Expressway (visible in background) on the outskirts of Baltimore is one of thousands such across the country that President Johnson hopes to eliminate through federal legislation. Under his proposed legislation, federal aid highway grants would be refused states that would not take action to rid billboards and junkyards from major roads.
