James R. Laver, 38, plays cards as he serves a 90 day sentence in the Columbus Workhouse, Laver says he wants to serve his time, then begin anew. However he will never resume a normal life as he has been suffering from Huntington's chorea. Court officials admit that Laver was sent to the workhouse for lack of a better place and hope his stay will be temporary.
