Jean Lecanuet, above, is waging a vigorous Kennedy-type campaign that has thrown fear into President Charles de Gaulle's supporters in the French presidential election. De Gaulle who said he would not take part in political maneuvering and would make only one brief address, has decided to go on television Tuesday night. Lecanuet, a former President of the Leftist Catholic Popular Republican Movement, is shown here in an October campaign appearance.
