Description
Mrs. Madeline Lee, 54, shown at her New York subway newsstand used proceeds from a special fund to take 140 children and their mothers from her uptown Manhattan neighborhood on an annual outing to Rye Beach in suburban Westchester County. It was the seventh year in a row she has done this. She picked up the tab--$138--for their transportation in two buses. Mrs. Lee builds up the special fund by selling back-issue magazines collected from her customers and also profits from weekend work selling hot dogs in front of the apartment house where she lives.

Photo is dated 1962.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
