Description
Giovanni Leone, an affable Christian Democrat from Naples and former premier, was designated premier Wednesday and will try to put together an interim government to end Italy's two-week political crisis. President Giuseppe Saragat asked the 60-year-old senator to take over following collapse of the center-left coalition that governed Italy for five years and the failure of efforts to reestablish the coalition.
