1961 Press Photo Nantucket's Center Methodist Church Reverend Koerner fired

Seven hours after he delivered what some members of his congregation considered a "disturbing" sermon, the Reverend Bruce Koerner was dismissed as pastor of Nantucket's Center Methodist Church. Summing up some of his beliefs, that "in general are not orthodox," yesterday he said he believed in evolution and was skeptical of "life beyond the grave."
