The Reverend William Vaughn Ischie, Jr., rector of Christ Church in Philadelphia since 1954, said yesterday he is leaving the Episcopal Church to become an ordained priest in the Syrian Antioch Orthodox Chuch. The Reverend Mr. Ischie is facing diocesan charges and is barred by a court order from returning to his pulpit. The charges brought by the church last June include use of "uncivil, abusive, discordant and obscene language" to certain persons and failing to pay bills.
