An elderly Iranian man begins the first step in rebuilding his home in Gonabad, in northern Iran, yesterday as he shovels the rubble away. Iran observed a national day of mourning today after an earthquake hit Saturday and devastated a 750-square-mile area in northeast Iran. The Shah of Iran was expected to order a large-scale reconstruction program for the area.
