Senator Robert Griffin, R-MI, above, says his forces have doubled in recent weeks and have more than enough votesto keep the Senate from voting on President Johnson's Supreme Court nominations. Griffin says 40 senators now oppose the confirmation of Associate Justice Abe Fortas to be Chief Justice and Homer Thornberry as an associate justice.
