Description
Kruiningen, Netherlands: The crumbled dykes have been repaired and the old enemy sea has been put back in his place, but the task of digging out from under Holland's crippling floods has just begun for these inhabitants of Kruiningen. Returning to their homes fully six months after the North Sea spilled angrily over the dykes, The Netherlands found their streets and fields and houses buried under a sea of mud and shallow swamp.

Photo is dated 1953.

Photo measures 9 x 6.75 inches.
