Description
Senator Hubert H. Humphrey, D-MN, told a Loyola University audience Thursday afternoon that although he supported former President Lyndon Johnson's Vietnam war policies, "the only answer today is to withdraw" from the Southeast Asian country. During a speech on the steps of the Loyola library, the former vice president said that he supported the Vietnam strategy at that time, but since then some facts have come to light that have made him change his mind. Senator Hubert Humphrey, D-MN, gestures amid students at Loyola University in New Orleans where he spoke Thursday afternoon. Humphrey, a possible candidate for president in 1972, held an outdoor question and answer period following his remarks.
