1968 Press Photo Representative Richard Ichord-House Un-American Committee Chair

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Representative Richard Ichord, left, D-MO, was in charge as acting chairman today as the House Committee on Un-American Activities opened hearings on the antiwar demonstrations during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. As attorneys for protest leaders bobbed up and down with complaints and objections, and as one future witness--Jerry Rubin--was ejected, Ichord kept his gavel busy with warnings that rules would be maintained. At right, is Representative John Ashbrook, R-OH.

Photo is dated 1968.

Photo measures 10.25 x 8 inches.
