Auxiliary Bishop George J. Gottwald, (left) was named administrator of the St. Louis archdiocese today. He will serve as the head of the archdiocese until Pope Paul VI appoints a successor to Joseph Cardinal Ritter who died today at 74. A right is the Rt. Rev. Msgr. William M. Drumm, Chancellor of the Archdiocese. Bishop Gottwald said the policies of Cardinal Ritter would be maintained while he is administrator.
