Arthur J. Hanes, defense attorney for James Earl Ray, puffed a cigarette Saturday as he told Memphis reporters there was an international Communist conspiracy in the Ray case. Ray is charged with murder in the slaying of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Hanes' comments came at an impromptu news conference.
