1974 Press Photo New York Times' John Herbers receives Silver Elm Award in MS

John Herbers (right) of the New York Times, a former Mississippian, was awarded the coveted Silver Elm Award at the University of Mississippi for outstanding achievement in the field of journalism, during the Mississippi High School Press Institute. Making the presentation were Steve Ellis (center) of Columbus, Mississippi Scholastic Press Association President and Dr. Ron Farrar, chairman of journalism at Ole Miss.
