Author Harry Golden, 70, received a pardon from President Nixon this week for his conviction in 1929 on mail fraud charges. Golden served three years in prison and his record became widely known in 1958 when the publication of his first book, "Only in America" brought him national fame. Presidential counsel Leonard Garment informed Golden of the pardon late Wednesday and the author made the news public Thursday. He is shown here in the study of his Charlotte home.

Photo is dated 1973.

Photo measures 8 x 10.75 inches.
