Daniel Wesley Gray, 33, is shown in custody yesterday after his capture in a cotton patch south of Portageville, MO. Gray, a farmhand, eluded a four-day manhunt launched Monday when he killed a deputy sheriff and wounded a sheriff who had sought to arrest him on a burglary warrant. Gray, who admitted the shooting, has been charged with first degree murder. Authorities said today they would seek the death penalty for him.

Photo is dated 1960.
