1964 Press Photo AP correspondent Eddy Gilmore mistaken for ex-King Farouk

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
When AP correspondent Eddy Gilmore's poor speaking acquaintance with the Greek language confused a taxi driver and got him to the Athens hotel reserved for Europe's crowned heads, it started a chain of fairy tale circumstances last night. He was mistaken for Ex-King Farouk of Egypt, right, and swept into line with royalty at King Constantine's State Ball.

Photo is dated 1964.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
