One crewman aboard Gretel II adjusts ..plastic fender around the Australian challenger for the America's Cup at Newport Monday morning while others work on the mainsail in the wake of a day of sailing drills. The fender needed to be removed Tuesday when the Aussie 12-meter hoists sail to leave harbor to meet Intrepid, the United States defender, in the first in a best-of-seven series of races for possession of the America's Cup.
