1976 Press Photo Aerial view of earthquake damaged Patzicia, Guatemala

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
In this aerial view of Patzicia, a town of 11,000 inhabitants north of Guatemala City, everything seems fairly intact until one notices that the roofs of many of the houses are lying on the ground. The scale of damage is shown by the relative size of the man working on a fallen roof at upper middle of photograph. Many towns like Patzicia remain isolated on Friday.

Photo is dated 1976.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
