A ladle of molten lead is poured into a tray made of a "space age" rubber compound shown by General Electric in New York. The tray is made of silicone rubber grade which is coated over sections of missiles to protect them from melting in the heat of space flight. In recent tests conducted by GE, the rubber withstood flame temperatures up to 9000 Fahrenheit
