Republican Hiram L. Fong, 52, millionaire Chinese-American businessman, gets a victory kiss from his 11-year-old daughter, Merle Ellen, after he emerged apparent winner of a U.S. Senate seat in Hawaii's first state election. Fong will be the first person of Chinese ancestry to serve in that capacity.
