Barry Goldwater, Jr., above, 30-year-old son of the 1964 GOP presidential nominee, won the Republican nomination in a special election Tuesday to fill a vacant seat in Congress. He will face Democrat John Van De Kemp in a run-off election to name a successor to Republican Ed Reineke in California's 27th district. Reineke resigned to become California's Lieutenant Governor.
