1972 Press Photo State Rep. Louis Fondren announced candidacy for U.S. Senate

State Representative Louis Fondren of Moss Point announced Wednesday as a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat held by Senator James Eastland. Fondren, an attorney for former Moss Point mayor, said he would not base his campaigning on attacks against Eastland but also would not represent a few millionaires in the Delta who are receiving government subsidies.
