Pope Paul VI holds his crosier as he is carried on his portable throne through crowd of more than 100,000 in St. Peter's Square today as arrived for outdoor ceremonies ending the Vatican Ecumenical Council. Ceremonies closed the council which Pope John XXIII had opened on October 11, 1962.
