1971 Press Photo Goose eggs delay construction project; worker feeds the geese

Eggs laid by one of these geese lie in the path of a construction project at Roosevelt Field in suburban New York. John Tole, feeding geese in photo was ordered to move dirt over the area but he refused knowing that if the eggs were touched or moved the geese wouldn't hatch them. Now the construction project has been halted until the eggs hatch around May 12.
