1965 Press Photo Dr. Carl-Axel Gemzell discovered fertility treatment

Dr. Carl-Axel Gemzell, above, Upsala, Sweden, University professor is credited with working out the fertility-stimulating treatment used on a New Zealand woman who gave birth to quintuplet on Tuesday and a Swedish woman who gave birth to quintuplets today. All but one of the Swedish woman's infants died. All the New Zealand woman's babies appear to be doing well.
