Description
Scientists raced this solar eclipse across the South Pacific Sunday in a Convair 990 airborne laboratory, from which these photographs were taken. For nearly 10 minutes, they were in the cone of darkness and were able to observe the eclipse for longer than ever before in man's history. This horizontal series shows the full sun with a small indentation from the moon, culminating in the total eclipse.

Photo is dated 1965.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
