1971 Press Photo Norman Lakes Reservoir collapse feared due to earthquake

More than half of the concrete top of an earth-fill dam at the Norman Lakes Reservoir in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles lies broken in the water following yesterday's earthquake. People in a wide area below the dam were ordered evacuated as authorities feared a collapse.
