John Fee holds photo of his son, Gregory, 19, whom he visited while spending eight days in Vietnam. Fee, a widower, said "they couldn't believe that here was a soldier's father, right up in the combat zone." Fee, an Escondido building contractor, said he wanted to cheer up his son with something more than a letter.
