1938 Press Photo Forty thousand candles at Eight National Eucharistic Congress

Forty thousand candles lighted the huge horseshoe of the City Park Stadium in New Orleans, October 19 when floodlights were extinguished at the midnight Mass for men during the Eight National Eucharistic Congress. The shining Congress emblem in the rear faces the altar from which Bishop Stephen J Donahue of New York said Pontifical Mass.
