First Lady Betty Ford, speaking to newsmen in the lobby of the Los Angeles Music Center, says looking at pictures of Vietnamese refugee children makes her "want to adopt them." She hasn't told the President of her feelings, she added. The First Lady was in Los Angeles attending a women's group luncheon. The First Family is on a working vacation in nearby Palm Springs, California.
