Novelist Jesse Hill Ford, right, enters the courthouse in Humboldt, Tennessee to testify at his murder trial. He is accompanied by his attorneys John D. Senter, III, center, and John Kizer, left. Ford, author of "The Liberation of Lord Byron Jones," testified that he shot a young Afro-American soldier accidentally while in fear for his own son's life.
