A U.S. consular car was burned Monday in an outburst of anti-American violence in Guayaguil, Ecuador, as student mobs surged through the street shouting Castro slogans. The top photo show firemen as they put out the flames; in the bottom photo, the car is turned back on its wheels as police disperse the mob. The violence was an outgrowth of efforts of the Ecuadorean government to set aside a 20-year-old treaty deciding a border dispute with neighboring Peru.

Photo is dated 1960.

Photo measures 8 x 10 inches.
